MCLOSA, the Medical Contact Lens and Ocular Surface Association, is a subspecialist interest group which falls within the subspeciality of Cornea and External Eye Disease and forms the British Ocular Surface Society.
The Association is committed
to promoting and advancing knowledge in the diagnosis
and management of diseases of the conjunctiva, cornea
and sclera. This includes microbial infections, corneal
dystrophies, inflammatory processes and outer surface
manifestations of systemic disease. It also deals with
new surgical techniques and the management of corneal
transplant and refractive surgery.
The Association keeps in focus innovations in contact
lens practice, the clinical care and medical management
of contact lens wear, and the role of contact lens
in different eye diseases.
MCLOSA's main event is an Annual Scientific Meeting
in November of each year. The Meeting draws speakers
and delegates from around the world, presenting the
latest in research and cutting-edge technology and
innovations in the field.
MCLOSA is affiliated to the European Contact Lens
Society of Ophthalmologists (ECLSO).
We welcome both junior and senior
ophthalmologists to join the Membership of MCLOSA and
we are delighted to now be able to offer Associate
Membership to Optometrists.
MCLOSA members receive one year’s subscription of The Ocular Surface Journal which is ranked 3rd amongst all ophthalmology journals (JCR 2008, impact factor 3.707 http://www.theocularsurface.com/).

Each quarterly issue of The Ocular Surface brings major reviews of important work in Laboratory Science, Clinical Science, and Clinical Practice, along with coverage of ongoing studies, patents pending, conference highlights, and more.
